As betrayed by the cacophony of noise, the nurse in charge of Emergency ward is kept busy taking blood and placing lines (cannulas) in relatively well children who queue up from other wards. This takes time and attention away from the vital task of actually caring for the sickest children who are inpatients on the Emergency ward. We want to pay monthly the salary of a phlebotomist (around 57 USD / 36 GBP) per month.

Although we are paediatricians, we could not help but notice that the conditions on the adult wards can be dismal. Talking to the nurses and doctors caring for adult pneumonia patients - they have no access to oxygen and are losing around 3 patients a day because of this. We would ideally want to buy one oxygen concentrator machine for each of the male and female wards.
